My Bernina goes to the cleaners for adjustment

I retired in 2001, the year I bought my brand new, "gotta have," Cadillac" of a machine and thought it would be the last one I would ever need, afterall, my Singer was with me for 24 years and  I could kick myself for ever trading that machine in.

I took my Bernina Artista 180 in for semi-annual cleaning recently - and also to check out a noise in the right side of the machine.
Did you know that a Bernina (maybe most of them do) can tell you how many stitches you have taken over the life of the machine?

  I did not know that and now I do.

When we picked the machine up,  I asked to sew on it mainly to see if the noise was gone. It wasn't so I asked to speak with the person who did the tune up and cleaning. 

The tech, an ederly man and husband of the store owner,  came out and said, "Oh the lady with the noisey machine - did you know you have over 9,000,000 stitches on your machine?" 

I sew alot, which is why I bought a really good machine that is now ten years old.
  He says the motor is wearing out, and for the price of a new motor, "I should really consider trading  in on a newer model." Remember, he is the husband of the store owner.  Of course he would say that.
I was not happy about the whole situation. It certainly was not a statement that represents the product very well. IMHO

 When I bought my Bernina,  I soon found out that every Bernina accessory you need costs a lot of money, even the bobbins are expensive.  It quickly become unaffordable.

 I might add,  my car is the same one I have had for 23 years and have no intention of trading it in. My Bernina is now worth more than my car, and I probably should have the machine insured. instead of the car.

I have never bought a service policy on items I have purchased in my adult life.
I truly believe that if a product does not last, then I have no need to buy that brand again.
How many things go bad in the first 12 months?   

I think we live in a very greedy environment
the price keeps going up and the quality is going down just as fast.

  I should not even get started on not being made in America. 
  If I end up with another machine, I can guarantee it will not a Bernina. Bernina
