The Masterpiece by Javan

The Masterpiece by Javan

We are born into the world like a blank canvas and each person that crosses our path takes up the brush and makes his mark upon our surface - So it is that we develop - But we must realize there comes a day that we must take up the brush and finish the work. For only we can determine if we are to be just another painting or a Masterpiece.

September Came and Went - Patchwork Times UFO

Only outside Fall decoration I had in the garage that was not packed or stored. Glad I still like it.

Time for the Patchwork Times #11 September UFO reveal . Luckily I was able to complete my quilt - actually my long-arm quilter, http://insanelycheapquilting.blogspot.com/
was able to complete the quilt a couple months back.
How was that for forward thinking...

This is called Amish Squares and currently resides in Colorado with DD Monica, who gave me this wonderful kit one Christmas several years ago.  I made this and it remained my UFO for several years, which was way too long and is why it made "the list.".  It went to the long armers with five others.
The quilting made it the beauty that it is now and I just thought that it just might be perfect as a re-gift for Monica. She really likes it, so guess I was right on that one
. Don't you just love surprising people?

A couple of other small finishes are ...

Finally got my donut pincushion made for my Masterpiece Thread bobbins holder. Guess I just needed to wait until http://www.pieceocake.com/
put them on sale - works for me and the kit had the wool and crushed walnut shells in it. This is the thread I use for all of my applique.

Another project I had that was wanting attention. I call this my "eye candy" sewing kit and holds all my hand stitching stuff - besides, it looks kinda pretty just sitting there.

Fall snuck in and I was unprepared -
everything that is Fall has been packed so what is a person to do...
I made a table topper - as I really did not want to unpack any boxes and that is what quilter's do.

Stars for John'aLee - see previous blog post - all mailed off for her quilts.

Evening Star with Nine Patch and The Army Star

A tote/bag I have been wanting to try was a perfect size for a sofa quilt I was gifting. I got the pattern from Amanda Murphy Design http://amandamurphydesign.blogspot.com/2010/09/ambrosia-bag
and this is for a very special friend. I think she will really like it.

This is Ruthie - our frog which was a gifted to us when my friend, Ruth, moved to New York.
She is a loyal companion and a reminder of all the fun times we have with Ruth - wish she would come for a visit.

YOU is kind, YOU is smart, YOU is important!
From the movie, The Help
and I have plans to use these words. Wait and see.

Wishing you a wonderful Fall journey - Judy C

Love the Amish quilt - just something about jewel tones on black. So many projects to enjoy in this read. And dear Ruthie - what a treasure of a memory she holds.

Have to check out the pincushion pattern - as I do love my Frosted Donut threads...need to get the new color grouping too!

Love that you named your dear froggie Ruthie...

Have a good weekend - we are having our quilt show tomorrow and Sunday - worked all day to get ready so off to put my feet up.

You have been very industrious! I love my Masterpiece bobbins too. FYI, Superior Threads has introduced a new set of colors so keep your eye out for that. I just got it and it had some more purples which made me happy.

Wow! I love everything in your post! I would love to have seen the look on your DD face when she opened the quilt. It really is beautiful and I agree that the long arm quilters breath life into our creations. Your 'eye candy' sewing bag grabbed my eye for sure. It is beyond lovely and perfect for anyone who stitches. Can you tell me where I can find the pattern. I have bags to be sure, but they are exactly that, bags...nothing so handy and beautiful as this little cutie. Your fall decorations are so lovely, gosh the year is flying by! Thanks you for sharing all your treasures...OH and the tote bag and sofa quilt, absolutely divine! One last thing, I love Masterpiece threads. I have been using them for two years now and wouldn't use anything else. I do need to get the bobbin rainbow though, perhaps a Christmas gift to myself huh? Hugs...

Very pretty quilt. I love how not all the diagonal rows go all the way to the edge. I'm glad your daughter was happy to get it back!

Great pincushion and notions holder. I've wanted to make one of the drawstring notions holders...just have not gotten around to it. Thanks for the inspiration.

I loved "The Help" and I've actually thought to myself many times, "are you gonna listen to those ugly lies" ..such a powerful story.
