The Masterpiece by Javan

The Masterpiece by Javan

We are born into the world like a blank canvas and each person that crosses our path takes up the brush and makes his mark upon our surface

So it is that we develop

But we must realize there comes a day that we must take up the brush and finish the work

For only we can determine if we are to be just another painting or a Masterpiece. Javan

Patchwork Times August Challenge

August was tough this year and, thankfully, over.
We had extreme heat, an earthquake, the stomach flu and Hurricane Irene.
The flu lasted too long and is finally leaving as did the hurricane and earthquake.
This morning our temperature is a wonderful 58 degrees to start - Autumn is coming.

Thank you Judy L from Patchwork Times for challenging us and this is the August finish,
which was number seven  ...
I started this in an applique class and thankfully it just needed to be assembled and quilted.
I finished it at 10 pm last night - whew!!!

Deerfield Bluebirds
I also completed a bed runner and it is on the way to the quilter for her wonderful magic.  Thought I would try one of these - looks very promising for keeping the toes warm during a quick nap.  I have been told that hotels are now using bed runners on their beds.

Finally made a sewing machine cover and small back pillow for my sewing chair.
Very simple and the piping is a stripe - which I love.

I have something else that I finished but can't show until it reaches it's new owner...
it was a real keeper too.   It has been received and she really, really likes it.

Have I ever mentioned what quilting means to me...
well, my friend Pat Taylor who lives in Wisconsin
said it so eloquently on her blog,  I asked permission to use her words.
She agreed, as long as I shared with her what I did with them ...
This is the pillow I made as a gift to her. I promise, it is on the way.

Now I just have to make me one. (BTW I did do that.)

Enjoy Autumn and Indian Summer and hopefully some cooler weather.
I leave you with this final picture - remember when?

Enjoying our peaceful journey through the seasons... Judy C
