The Masterpiece by Javan

The Masterpiece by Javan

We are born into the world like a blank canvas and each person that crosses our path takes up the brush and makes his mark upon our surface - So it is that we develop - But we must realize there comes a day that we must take up the brush and finish the work. For only we can determine if we are to be just another painting or a Masterpiece.

What We Do With Love - June is Over and Here is the Finish

Quilts are special. They are a gift of love made with love by people who love what they're doing.
 ~ Elizabeth Gentry

An now .... my June UFO Challenge finish from Patchwork Times.

This is The Applique Sampler by Becky Goldsmith from the book The New Applique Sampler by Linda Jenkins and Becky Goldsmith. I learned to applique from this book - with a wonderful step-by-step process that is easy to understand and follow. I took a class when Becky came to symposium, and realized that I really had learned her technique from this book. The class was icing on the cake because I got to see her trunk show and ask all my questions. This little quilt was a joy to finish and I really love applique, The Piece 'O Cake way. All the backgrounds are a different polka dot and it is really a happy little quilt that pleases me and tickles my fancy. Just plain makes me happy!

Another quote that I love and from a dear friend -

Why we Quilt - It is the knowledge that while those quilts are being made, each stitch holds a private thought, a prayer, a wish or a dream. ~ Pat Taylor

Judy C sends you "our warmest wishes" for a fantastic 4th of July celebration with family and friends.

Congratulations on another labor of love! You are right - it is a very happy quilt and makes us smile when looking at it!
Wish there had been enough time to take Becky's applique class last Fall in Valdez, Alaska...just couldn't swing both her and Marsha McCloskey...Next Time!

(Thank you for mentioning me - blush...)

Have a wonderful holiday weekend.

That's a lovely quilt and a lovely saying too. It brings to mind especially the quilts that had a prayer in every stitch. I've bought a couple of books by Becky and Linda. Someday I'll applique!

What a delightful, happy quilt! I, too, am applique challenged, but I can appreciate a job well-done when I see one!

Happened upon your blog today.
Don't remember how. I am not a
quilter but my mother was so
she instilled a love of quilts
in me. This is the most darling
one I've ever seen. You're so
I'm an NC girl too.
