Celebrating inside ....
and outside....
Lee Greenwood's song says it all ...
I'm proud to be an American,
where at least I know I'm free.
And I won't forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.
Christmas In Dixie by Alabama is always played at this house on July 4th - however, this year it will be sadly missed as the CD is packed. The kids are probably shouting hoorah because we always played it for them - over and over - when we call them. You would think they would have taken the hint as they all live out of town!!!. In fact, all the CD's are packed, so I will be needing to find some patriotic music to listen to today.
We will not be watching fireworks outside this year because of the drought, but be assured we will be watching "The Capital Fourth" on PBS from Washington, D.C., a wonderfully patriotic show that we love. Nothing like hearing the Stars, And Stripes Forever to put you in the patriotic spirit along with the 1812 Overture with canons during the fireworks. Can't wait. I Love July 4th and all it represents.
My patriotic heart beats red, white, and blue ~ unknown

Your quilts are beautiful. I've enjoyed your blog this morning...especially the Erma Bombeck quote. Have a happy 4th!
You too Judy....nice post!!
Have a wonderful Fourth of July!
What a wonderful quote from Erma Bombeck! Thank you for sharing it. Just so happens I grew up in D.C. and Dad performed every 4th of July with the Navy Band at the Monument. Glorious fireworks year after year. Great memories.
Love the Erma Bombeck quotation, the flag quilt, Lee Greenwood's song, and the Capital Fourth program.
I scrolled back through your posts - you have some gorgeous quilts! I especially love this American flag one. At the sewing machine store where I get my machine serviced they have that one hanging over the desk and I've always admired it. blessings, marlene
I love your Flag Wall Hanging. I have made the same one but I am afraid to cut the waves at the top and bottom. Besides I think I donated the red fabric I was going to use for the binding.
