The Masterpiece by Javan

The Masterpiece by Javan

We are born into the world like a blank canvas and each person that crosses our path takes up the brush and makes his mark upon our surface

So it is that we develop

But we must realize there comes a day that we must take up the brush and finish the work

For only we can determine if we are to be just another painting or a Masterpiece. Javan

Day and Time Of Our Lives

When daughter in Colorado asked what we wanted for Christmas, DWH and I said we really wanted a day clock. You may laugh, but this is one of the neatest items to have in your home after you retire. We check this day clock a lot more than the time-of-day clock.

We are really enjoying our retirement and often need to know the day of the week.

The day after retirement we took off our watches and decided our life would not be controlled by the clock again - we were going to start living as retired only.  We also found that you meet the nicest people by asking if they have the time when you feel you really have a need to know, like doctor's appointments and such..

We have also given up our cell phone.  Now we only have a "pre-paid" phone we use when traveling.  We do still have a "land line" phone in the house.
If we think about it, we turn the cell phone on when we get in the car if going to the daughter's house two hours away, we know she will be calling to see where we are. She does worry about us.

DWH and I so enjoy each other and our time together that we do not have the constant need to talk on the phone every ten minutes and believe that trivial things should not take up so much of our life and energy - quality conversations mean so much more to us than constant conversations.  .

Shirley (SAO) from Virginia  recently asked about my light box so thought I would include a picture.  This is the light box DWH built for me about five years ago, measuring 24" x 26" and is portable if I  need to take it to a class.  Before, I always used the window to trace my patterns for Redwork and  stained glass quilts so he saw a big need for me to have this and I am so glad -  I love it.

Another glimpse of Spring around our property. The Bradford Pear in all it's glory and what a truly beautiful tree.  What more could you ask from a tree -  beautiful Spring blooms, green all summer, and in the Fall provides such beautiful red colors.

This next picture was taken standing under the Bradford Pear and looking into our pine forest - such a beautiful and peaceful setting. I just love the colors of Spring.

Wishing you joy and happiness along your journey while waiting for the beauty of Spring to arrive in your area. I am still trying to send it your way. Judy C

Your day clock is the most unique thing I have seen! How perfect for retired folks...I did not know something like that even existed.

The Bradford pear tree should be used as cover for major gardening catalogs...just beautiful. There will be many things you miss when you make your move - I am sure this setting will be one of them.

I love, love, love the day clock! How fun is that!
Sounds like you not only know how to enjoy retirement, you know how to enjoy "living." Totally cool! :)

I have never heard of a Day clock before. My hubby collects clocks, so I may have to be on the look out for a Day clock :-)
