The Masterpiece by Javan

The Masterpiece by Javan

We are born into the world like a blank canvas and each person that crosses our path takes up the brush and makes his mark upon our surface - So it is that we develop - But we must realize there comes a day that we must take up the brush and finish the work. For only we can determine if we are to be just another painting or a Masterpiece.

Spring Inspiration And a Record Broken

The temperature in NC today was 78 and a new record - too bad all my work right now is in the house.  I did get a chance to look at my pictures and gathered some with the promise of Spring awakenings.

Ruthie's Lillies from last Easter  - with great anticipation I just love when they break through the ground. That is Ruthie the frog on the bench - she looks after the lillies.
Can't wait for these wonderful butterflies to move back into the garden. This is an Autumn Joy plant so must wait for it to come back and bloom.  Knowing it will - brings me joy.

Just hanging out with the Vinca flowers and lillies ...

What's on your Design Wall on a Friday ...

My sewing group, The Golden Girls, worked on these organizers when we gathered two weeks ago.  Mine is hanging on the design wall with rulers and rotary cutter since cutting table is near  The pattern came from the February Quilter's World Magazine and was pretty easy if you happen to have all ingredients.
I chose civil war fabrics...Phyllis chose bright, happy dots...
Karen's is black, white and red but no picture yet -  Joyce had an embroidery project she needed to finish that day so did not get to make it.

I need to make a decision on this Mariner's Compass block - still thinking it would make a fantastic pillow or wall hanging - are there more options since I have not done anything with it?  I happen to like paper piecing, however, I do not think I would want to paper piece a whole quilt - one block was definitely worth it.

Judy C just taking a break and wishing you a weekend of happiness along your journey...

78 degrees?????!!!!!!! Oh my goodness - hope you enjoyed a glass of ice tea on the deck!!
Love your organizers and will head to the local library to see if we have a February copy available.
The Mariner's Compass is gorgeous and certainly (IMHO) deserves to be part of a greater thing...a wall hanging would be my choice. Adding a narrow inner border - even HST's and then surrounded by pieced blocks - something classic and simple so as not to pull attention from your beautiful center. Well done, Judy!!!
Now I am going to go sit and imagine 78 degrees..............
lucky pup!!
