The Masterpiece by Javan

The Masterpiece by Javan

We are born into the world like a blank canvas and each person that crosses our path takes up the brush and makes his mark upon our surface - So it is that we develop - But we must realize there comes a day that we must take up the brush and finish the work. For only we can determine if we are to be just another painting or a Masterpiece.

Word Up Saturday Sewing - Done

Kelly from Charming Girls and Kris from Dandelion Quilts are having a sewing party this afternoon. We are suppose to make something depicting our word chosen to represent this year. Since mine are ASSESS - ADAPT - OVERCOME - I elected to live my words today and will take the opportunity to sort, throw, recycle, giveaway and pack all my patterns. Quite an undertaking, since I like to copy patterns from the internet. It has become a "refresher" remembering so many of them and the reason I copied them to begin with. Here is a picture of the start and hopefully today will end with a hugh finish.

This picture does not show the four three-inch notebooks that I will also be looking through.  Wish me luck and I look forward to seeing all the lovely creations everyone comes up with.   Judy C in on her own personal packing journey today.
Just after 5 pm here on the East coast and I have finished my little "pack along".

AND NOW FOR THE REST OF THE STORY

Let's start off with refreshments - I was so busy I almost forgot to get to them, but I did not want to let you down.  I ate about half while I was watching Private Benjamin.  Golly, I haven't seen that one in a long time and that is just what was on the TV when I started my mission.

Patterns to be recycled to others, plus there were three bags of trash.  I did do a number on them and I feel so much lighter.

Patterns I am keeping and have now packed in their own little place.  That was hard getting everything rounded up.  I ended up with two tubs of patterns with kits.

Empty binders and pattern books - three tubs of these.

Empty baskets that use to be full of quilts kits and patterns that were all packed along with all the quilting magazines that I had left.  I had already purged all my magazines before.  Yup - I can now find things.
Me thinks DWH will need to get me some more tubs before I can finish all the shelves.  One tub is just full of totes, I couldn't believe it - I know what people are getting for birthdays this year.

The table and the shelf in the back have been cleared.  What a wonderful day I had living my "words up."  I really did not want to make anything today using these words, because as soon as we move, I am picking a new word - JOYFUL!!!
Hope everyone had a productive a day and something to show for it while they traveled along their journey.  Judy C

Big task you set yourself. I love revisiting all my patterns and Re-organizing things. Some old things become new and some things get to find new homes. Good Luck.

Sometimes these things can be so overwhelming to me! I mean, what if I might want it later down the road..would I regret tossing it, giving it away....but we have to let go and I see you are doing wonderfully getting all organized and downsized! Well Done!

WOW Judy, kinda sad seeing all those totes packed up. But think how fun it will be to unpack them in your new sewing room!!! Great job by the way, I know it's not easy!

Judy, this can't be easy packing up a room you love. But keep in mind how much you will enjoy unpacking them in your new sewing room! Way to be productive!

WOW - you really stuck to your task and finished, too. Love that you are paying it forward by sending things on to others. A clear work table and lots of organized space leads to great creativity.

Very Impressive Judy! It sure gives you a new perspective on future quilting projects, doesn't it?
I think that is why we have the month of January - everybody I know is sorting and organizing!

Like your selection of snacks too!

Wow Judy, You really went to town. I only just started quilting a little over ... well, almost 3 years ago now, but last year only got one quilt made due to health issues. This year will be much more productive I'm sure of it. BUT, I haven't had time to bury myself in patterns and fabric yet, though I AM trying, LOL. I'm certain there will come a time I will be needing to do the same de-cluttering you did and I hope I am as tenacious as you were in your quest. Way to go girl!!! Hugs... OH! I stopped to read your profile before I posted this and noticed that you like Jennifer Chiaverini books. I forgot yesterday to tell Kelly that I was listening to one of her audio books yesterday during the party. I never get tired of them. I just need to get her latest ones now. I love audio for sewing but I also love to sit and stitch or read in the evenings.
