The Masterpiece by Javan

The Masterpiece by Javan

We are born into the world like a blank canvas and each person that crosses our path takes up the brush and makes his mark upon our surface - So it is that we develop - But we must realize there comes a day that we must take up the brush and finish the work. For only we can determine if we are to be just another painting or a Masterpiece.

And Now For The Rest of the Story

Kelly at Charming Chatter has challenged us to really think about what we will do and experience during 2011 - a word to reflect on and possibly live by - a word to turn to during our confusion of just what we are about.  I have chosen words for my "Word Up"

Assess, Adapt and Overcome

We are selling our little slice of heaven. We were optimistic and hopeful when we bought this two-story brick house with six magnolia trees on six acres - it was exactly what we wanted and where we wanted to be. After eight years and many improvements later, we find that the stairs are bothering us, the land is more than we really want to care for in our retirement years and we have become imbedded in taking care of everything instead of ourselves.  The beauty of the property and it's beautiful park-like atmosphere is what has kept us here.  We have started packing, organizing, throwing away and re-evaluating just how much we will take with us.  Well, everywhere except the bonus room - my room where my stash and stuff live and I do not apologize for it.  Yes, I could give it away but will I need it in my next room?  My friends call it their store  and  I could become overwhelmed with everything I want to make. Adapting to the MUF theory was timely - I am letting go of the guilt, but I still have a lot to do in this life time.  Maybe when I have to pack it the magic will happen and I will have clarity.  One can only hope.

Now, pictures of winnings this past year.  I really want to thank these shops for the fun and such wonderful treats and I truly love surprises of this kind.  There is something about winning that makes you giddy with happiness.
Jelly Roll of Bliss from Charming Girls Quilt Club and one of my all time favorite collections.  I will add some yardage and another WHIMM to my list - Works Hidden In My Mind!!!  and I must add the definition so family members will know.

Sew Fabulous Quilt Shop picked me  and sent 12 Days of Christmas fat quarters and a panel.  I have now added yardage (on sale last week) and ready for a quilt pattern.  I am really liking all of the bright, happy fabric that is out there now and I dearly love these shops.

Earlier in 2010, before my blog, I had won a fat quarter bundle of Moda French General, Rural Jardin from Z and S Fabrics.  Yes, you did read it right - a bundle.  I am searching for just the right pattern for a fat quarter quilt and since I do not want to make star quilts this year, I am limited by what to do.

Be sure to check out Gum Tree Designers for their wonderful pattern giveaway and sign up while you are there.  I would love for you to win.

Hope you have winnings in your life this year and Happiness along your journey from Judy C

the destination is not as important as the journey....

Great words Judy - love them all. Wow, your home looks just beautiful, but I can understand why you'd want to move! Great prizes too. I'll be rooting for you as you adapt, assess and overcome in the New Year!

A momentous decision for you both...it is often difficult to reevaluate and can be an emotional process. I give you a big thumbs up for being brave.
With the economic upheaval of the past 2 years, retirees have been forced into areas that are uncharted. We have our dream home on 40 acres and to leave would be heart wrenching...but there are the stairs and the high maintenance of a log home and the yardwork, etc...scary thoughts have been introduced. Perhaps someday we will be making the same choice as you...I wish you all the best as you take this new direction. (BTW - would a smaller house with a reeallly big sewing room be a compromise??)

Great words to think about everyday. It sounds as though there will be changes ahead for you. Your home is beautiful--I love the concept of the MUF's.
